Chalky's Chairs: Chapter 2

With your help $100,000 was raised for wee Isla Lunn, a motherless girl who just needed a nest egg. With that safely stowed for Isla's future we completed Chalky Carr Trust's Chapter 1.

Chalky has now set the next goal for the Trust, Chalky's Chairs.

We are setting out to raise another $100,000 to deliver the 1st XV Chalky's Chairs for those undergoing treatment, those bound together by cancer.

The funds will be used to purchase 15 specialist oncology chairs deemed best for purpose and very much wanted by Christchurch Hospital's Oncology Department.

Having spent time in the oncology ward at Christchurch Hospital Chalky and his wife Sarah have identified the need for specialist chairs for those undergoing chemotherapy. They worked with the Hospital and uncovered a body of research supporting the use of such chairs. Ergonomically designed with the capacity to allow medical treatment for the patient in the most comfortable and dignified way possible.

Chalky always says the simple things, even sucking on a 'Mintie', can make a difference in chemo. "We have decided to aim to make the worst of times more comfortable for those brave patients undergoing treatment." he says. "We can't lessen the pain but we can might it more endurable.

Thank you for helping if you can.
